7 Things To Consider When Choosing A Barbershop

Choosing the professional mens barbers shop can be difficult. There are countless options, and all of them promise to do an amazing job with your hair. To make sure you get the results you want, it’s important to know what you’re looking for when it comes to your barbershop experience.

So whether you’re looking for cleanliness or customer service this article will discuss a few things to consider when choosing your barbershop, so you can be sure to choose one that fits you perfectly!

1. Location is key

Haircut aesthetics aside, where your barbershop is located is important. If you’re looking for convenience, make sure your barbershop is located near where you work or live and has ample parking for clients. You may also consider one that is located near places you frequently visit to save yourself time.

If there are multiple shops within close proximity to each other, be wary of price-gouging. Some shops will charge exorbitant prices just because they know you have little recourse if their prices are too high relative to others—and also because they know desperate people are willing to pay anything.

Shop around until you find one whose rates are reasonable given their location and customer base.

2. Barber's Personality and Skills

Try to choose a barber with a good personality and has the skills for the services being offered.

Choose a barber with a personality that makes you feel comfortable. You don't want your barber to make you nervous, uncomfortable or unsure about what he is doing. Instead, make sure you like his/her personality and his/her attitude towards what he does. After all you are paying money, at least enjoy the experience

Barbering is an art form, one that you don’t want to leave in an amateur’s hands. Since barbering requires a lot of skill, it’s important to find a barber who can provide you with clean cuts and good conversation.

Ask friends for recommendations, check out photos of their work online, and browse reviews before making an appointment. These days, barbershops often offer various services such as facials or massages - just make sure they're highly skilled in all areas!

Also make sure they use quality products: Not all hair products are created equal. In fact, many drugstore brands aren’t even close. So if your barber shop has been around for any length of time at all, chances are they use high-quality products from. That doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be paying more than 30 pounds, but it does give you some idea about how professional their approach is.

3. Get recommendations from friends

It’s hard to beat word-of-mouth when it comes to finding a barber you can trust. Ask your friends who they go to and why. Your peers may be able to tell you about an amazing new shop that just opened in town, or help steer you away from one where employees aren’t properly trained.

People want people who are good at what they do, so use that fact in your favour when looking for a barber. You won’t regret it!

Barbers tend to have different specialities, depending on their education level. For example, some specialise in cutting hair while others specialise in beard trimming only. Others focus on other aspects of men's grooming like face shaves or straight razor shaves.

You should consider what kind of barbering experience you're looking for before choosing one because there are many options out there.

4. Barber Shop Atmosphere

If you’re paying for a haircut, you should be able to enjoy yourself. If your barber shop is dirty and unkempt, you probably won’t want to go back.

You may also consider whether or not it has any modern amenities such as Wi-Fi or an iPhone docking station. By looking at these little details, you’ll get a better sense of how well-run a shop is and how professional its owner is. In short: no clutter = good.

5. What else do they offer

One of the most important things to think about when choosing a barbershop is whether or not they offer more than just haircuts. Most shops, for example, also offer beard trims and shaves; others might provide shoe shines or manicures.

Also, consider asking a few questions before making an appointment: do you offer women’s haircuts? Is tip included? What days do you take walk-ins? For answers to all these questions and more, call ahead. If possible, schedule a consultation before going in to make sure that their style fits yours.

6. Do they have an active presence in the community

Hair stylists and barbers often volunteer their time to a variety of causes throughout their community. Look for a shop with an active presence in your city. While you might not have been aware of what goes on at your local shop, these smaller contributions can mean a lot when they come from someone you’re supporting regularly.

Some shops go above and beyond, think about finding a place that engages in regular outreach to help strengthen its reputation in your neighbourhood.

By giving back frequently, any barber shop will become even more dedicated to serving their customers well. The more connected a business is to others, especially those around them, it makes sense that people would want to do business there too. You also get a better idea of how friendly and caring the staff is—important qualities for keeping customers coming back!

7. Reviews and stars on Google and Yelp

If you’re not sure what barber you want, or if you’re shopping around for one in your area, look for shops with ratings. A shop with an overall rating of five stars is likely one that’s popular and/or well-reviewed among other customers. However, online reviews can sometimes be misleading (I know—because I write them), so make sure you read carefully and take any comment left by a customer with a grain of salt. Also one bad experience may not reflect how an entire barbershop operates.

Consider asking around about barbershops in your area - especially ones that aren't chains! Your family, friends or co-workers may have already had an amazing experience with another place nearby - ask them where they go! This will likely give you even more insight.
